Congratulations to Obama for becoming the 44th American President just a couple hours ago. Change has been the perpetual mantra for his campaign, for all our sakes, let’s hope that 2009 ushers in some powerful changes in attitudes and even more importantly in actions. Let’s celebrate for one night regardless of whether or not you are a democrat or republican (I affliate with neither party) and think of what may be – it’s the only way we can get our economy going on the right foot.

Businesses are going to start flocking to government building projects over the next couple years. As developments slow down, the big pocketbooks will become the city, state and county governmental entities that are looking to do projects. They have the money to finance new roads, buildings, fences and large scale projects that will sustain the companies that make it through the next couple years.

It will behoove many small businesses to get on the small works roster for their local governments so they can be notified when new projects come along. If you don’t start moving toward government projects your business may be in danger of going bankruptcy or you’ll be forced to merge, or even worse sell at distressed asset prices in a time when no one is looking to buy.
